Bishop’s Blurb

Bishop's Blurb

Once again we begin the adventure of a new year!  My family, the Bishopric and myself would like to thank the 9th Ward for your wonderful support over the past six months as we have started this new stage of our lives.  It truly has been amazing and we owe all of it to the amazing members of the 9th Ward, that are so anxiously going about living the gospel in their day to day lives.

As with each year, we begin the new year with our annual Ward Conference.  We hope that you will be able to attend this Sunday the 18th of January, as we have many visitors from the Stake coming to offer their support and bare their testimonies of this work.  We will surely be blessed as the themes of "Unity" and "Becoming a Zion People" are presented.  As we were admonished in the October Conference, I personally hope that we are continuing to pray for the missionary work to continue to go forth throughout the world.  I also hope that we are continuing to pray for unity; in our homes, in the Ward and throughout the Church around the world.  Finally, I would ask that you continue praying for our youth.  You have wonderful daughters and sons, and I have enjoyed getting to know them better and watching them grow through their struggles and more importantly through their successes.

We as a Bishopric look forward to a wonderful year and are grateful to be the servants of such a beautiful group of people.  We love you and pray for you always.  May the Lord bless you and increase your testimony over this new year.  Bishop Jones

Primary

Primary

The Primary is adjusting to the new schedule and new classes with our wonderful teachers!  We really appreciate all the hard work they do and the love they express to the children.

Great to Be Eight

This Sunday is our Great to be Eight program.  All those children that turn eight this year, come to the relief society room, Sunday, January 18th at 6:30 pm.  Bring your parents, too.  We will have all the information you and your parents need to know for your baptism, including: dates, times, what to bring, what your family will be doing, program guides, and information on the importance and purpose of your baptism.  We will also demonstrate the baptism.  There will be information on Cub Scouts and Activity Days as well.  So, we'll see everyone there!!
Priesthood Preview
We also have a priesthood preview coming up this month with the bishopric for those boys who will be turning twelve and their parents.

More of this information soon, as well as our first quarterly activity.

Young Women

We are excited to begin another year! January is just beginning and we already have a full schedule of exciting events!!! We have participated in the "A Brand New Year" celebration the General Young Men & Women Presidencies presented on DVD.

New Theme and Value

Our New Youth Theme for 2009 is "Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12)

The First Presidency announced that the attribute and value of Virtue has been added to the Young Women theme. The color is gold. The Young Women general presidency invites the young women of the Church to lead the world in a return to virtue. We would invite all Young Women and their parents to visit the church web site for all the latest news and announcements; lds.org.
